Vox Hunt: Food Nostalgia

Oh.My.Goodness.

I LOVE the sausage egg mcmuffin. I wont allow myself to have them anymore, not even one every now and then. Just one, and I am sliding down the deliciously cheesy slope to a size 16 jeans.

I do love them though!

I love those, too. DeWitte makes a low fat version with turkey sausage, fat free cheese, egg whites and whole wheat English muffins. Not as tasty as the original but I'll take it. *sigh* Middle age spread hits hard!
If I can't have the real deal I'd rather not have any at all. The only item on your list that I would even consider is the whole wheat muffin. I don't don't do fake cheese at all. But I've discovered that the biggest enemy to my health and waist line is not so much the high fat foods as it is the highly processed foods. These days I cook nearly everything from scratch. And I do watch the amount of fat we eat.
[this is good]

Mmm. Fast food breakfast.

Sigh, I remember they used to have buscuits and gravy... But that's been close to twenty years ago. I definitely loved that.
That's exactly the way I feel about sugar. If I can't have the real thing, I don't want anything at all.
For the record, I *hate* eggs. I don't know why. But when I was pregnant, I made these at home everyday. LOVED them. But during that time, I also loved my preggo-casserole: Top Ramen with tuna fish, mayo and peas.

Just writing that makes me want to puke.
Some low-fat stuff is actually highly processed with lots of sodium and such. We just did an article in one of our pubs. about that. I don't remember where low-fat cheese is on that spectrum though.

The older I get, the less appetite I have, so eating less of the 'real' stuff is easier. When I was younger, that was not as easy.

Well, there's just no accounting for the tastes of pregnant women! 8:-)
