Went upstairs a while ago to find Warren napping on the floor. I don't think I've ever seen either one of the cats do this unless they happen to be under the bed. Clearly the heat has addled his brain.
And, yes, it's hot. The Weather Service says that it's only 102 outside, but my thermometers beg to differ.
These photos are about 30 minutes old and the one on the left peaked at 109 a few minutes ago. That's just way too hot to be acceptable.
Last night I had a frozen pizza for dinner as Ken has gone hunting for the weekend. I learned a valuable lesson. When you remove pizza from a 450 degree oven is wise to assume the sauce is also at a temperature of 450 (even after you've let the pizza stand for about 10 minutes). Guess I should have paid more attention in physics class.
And now, just for fun I'll leave you with a short passage from the book. Now that I'm older it makes me chuckle every time I read it.
"If only I had some grease I could fix some kind of a light," Ma considered. "We didn't lack for light when I was a girl, before this newfangled kerosene was ever heard of."
"That's so," said Pa. "These times are too progressive. Everything has changed too fast. Railroads and telegraph and kerosene and coal stoves -- they're good things to have but the trouble is, folks get to depend on 'em."

Our house has a flat roof and it has black tar on it - upstairs is always about 20 degrees warmer than down. When it gets humid here the a/c doesn't seem to help much - though I doubt it has ever reached 109 ......
So far we have had a really wet spring and temps and humidity have not been too bad this first week of summer.
Winter does have its downsides, but overall I like it. Of course, we don't normally get that much ice and snow during winter. And the sun shines more often than not.
I have heard of physics majors trying to pinpoint the exact temperature of pizza sauce. Despite the relative cool looking remperature of the cheese, the sauce can maintain magma-like qualities for up to half an hour after removal form the oven. LOL
Ouchie...
