QotD: Long Weekend

Comments

I'm glad you have figured out what was wrong. 2-3 weeks more??? Are you trying to compete with me? LOL.

I am sorry that you will be missing the quilt camp though - that sucks. The only thing I am missing is work and I've never heard anyone say "that sucks"!
You're a no-meds kind of lady? Since my lungs were damaged in a fire, I try to get meds right away...because I tend not to respond to a first course and it has to be bumped with some steroids. I've had pneumonia twice since. :(

It sucks to be you right now. Be healthy quick!

Are you trying to compete with me? LOL.

I thought about it. But I'd really rather be up and working.

I'm actually still gambling on that one. Sept. 1 is the last day I can cancel and get my money back. I'm toying with the possibility of still going, but just not trying to sew from sun up to sun down. If I make my sister drive up there and back and I take a nap every afternoon I may not wear myself out. We'll see.

Bronchitis is most often caused by a virus and, therefore, does not respond to antibiotics. Secondary bacterial infections can occur along with it. I've no doubt you are a prime candidate for such infections, but I am not. If I did bother to get in to see the doctor they would tell me to rest, get plenty of fluids, and take my decongestants. I'm already doing those things. I try to save my doctor visits for the things I can't deal with on my own -- like broken bones! 8:-)
Yup. I get an infection if somebody looks at me mean.
Oh, I'm sorry you've gotten sick! I think I've only had bronchitis once, when I was in high school and I didn't really know what it was so I just continued to go and I'm sure I got others sick :( Hope you feel better faster than normal!
It sounds like you had a sinus infection. The bronchitis is probably secondary.

The sinus headache wasn't a surprise. We'd just had about 9.5" of rain and the mold spore count was through the roof. I'd say the trouble arose because I did a platelet donation 3 days earlier. It's becoming a rather unpleasant habit to get sick with whatever I'm exposed to during that window right after the donation. I think I'll cut back to single unit donations of platelets instead of the doubles and see if that keeps me well.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you're able to go to quilt camp ... now that I've got broadband, I'm looking forward to being able to easily download all of the pictures that you're bound to take! Therefore, I'm depending on you to get well so that I can get my quilt fix ;-)

I promise I will do my best. There is no doubt that I will be stir crazy by that point and will need to get out!
Are you feeling any better? :-)

Are you feeling any better? :-)

I think the short answer to your question is "yes." But I'm a long way from over this thing.

Saturday was a really fun day. I was getting absolutely sick of the headache I'd had for 9 days and aspirin was doing absolutely nothing for me but burning a hole in my stomach. Ken rummaged around in the cabinet and found some Lortab that was leftover from his last root canal. I figured it wouldn't kill me to take one since I wasn't going anywhere. I took it first thing in the morning and came downstairs to check my email while he cooked breakfast. After about 20 minutes I noticed I was feeling a teeny bit loopy. I stopped, took stock of everything, and realized that my headache was gone, too! Whoohoo! I made it through breakfast and then decided it was time to go back to bed. I stayed there for about an hour until one of my customers came over to drop off a couple of quilts. She knew I was sick and only stayed for a minute, but that was plenty long enough for me. I went right back upstairs to go to bed. By the time I got to the top of the stairs I noticed that my entire field of vision was full of big purple polka dots! Just about the color your walls look in the photos. They made me giggle. Too bad they went away when I lay down. And they never did come back. But neither did my headache. And my fever is mostly gone, but I still break out in a sweat a couple of times a day. On the bright side, this is the least amount I've ever coughed with bronchitis, but it is slowly increasing. I still don't have much energy. This morning's shower pretty much wiped me out. Jenny, James, and Jonah are coming over for lunch. It's a pretty safe bet I'll go straight to bed after they leave and stay there! 8:-)

I was happy to read that you're pretty much off the pain meds. That's always such a relief to know that you don't hurt anymore. Now you can actually start to feel like your healing. You'll really know you're on the road to recovery when you start itching!
LOL - aren't narcotics wonderful?!! I'm glad that you feeling a bit better - I foresee a quilt camp in your future! :-)

I have to wonder what those stitches are looking like in there .... it just seems wrong to cover them up. My period of immobility ends on Wednesday - I'm really looking forward to being able to move about a bit.
