You don't spend much time thinking about your place in the world. You are who you are - and people can just deal with that!
Your gift is having a good eye. You take amazing picture and have the natural talent for most visual arts.
You are inspired by what is possible. Real life is often too ordinary for you.
It's very easy for you to feel happy. You can find peace with any situation.

There's a nice pile of cottons that I can incorporate into lots of projects.
The one on the left is a woven design in red, black, and gold. The four on the right are printed.
"What will I be doing with them?" you ask. Well, about a year and a half ago I purchased a queen size silk quilt batting at a quilt show. This little puppy cost me nearly $100 and I have every intention of hand quilting it--something to really show off what I can do. I was thinking of something very simple such as a whole cloth or an Amish style such as a center diamond or bars. Since silk fabric is so expensive here in the states I had resigned myself to using cotton sateen fabric instead. Now I don't have to! I still don't know exactly what this quilt will look like (I may even do several small quilts instead of one large one) or when I will have time to do it. If I'm smart I'll get it done while I'm still young and my hands are in good shape.
Edit: I just got a better look at those three "solid" silks in good light. The green one really is solid, but the navy blue one is shot blue and black, the yellow is shot yellow and white!
Ken went pig hunting again this weekend and I've been left to my own devices. Normally I would use such a weekend to get absolutely tons of work done, but today I socialized a good part of the day. John came to town to spend the weekend with his grandmother, but was kind enough to take a little time away from her to take Wendi and I out to lunch. He also brought presents for us and the fabric he picked up for me on his big mystery vacation. I already know what I'm going to do with part of the fabric he brought, but I'll save that for another post. The visit was lots of fun, but as always, far too short.
This evening I had dinner with Paxton and Strixaluco. A few months ago Strix and I got to talking about Ethiopian food and she mentioned that she hadn't had any in years. I told her we have a very good restaurant here in OKC and if they were interested I would take them there the next time they were passing through. Today was the day. As I had promised there was way too much food and we all ate until we thought we were going to pop! It was lots of fun to finally meet someone in person I've made friends with on VOX. Meeting people online is not new to me (that's how I met my husband), but this somehow takes blogging to a new level for me. I hope to someday meet more of my VOX friends in person.
Last weekend when I mentioned that I would be doing some work on a commissioned quilt Jean asked if I would be posting pictures. It'll be a while before it's done, but here's what I have so far.
It's going to be a queen size quilt with 7 rings across and 8 rings down. This quilt is to be given as a 50th anniversary gift by the anniversary couple's children. The colors of the rings (mint green and light purple) were the colors of their wedding. [1] I chose gold for the corners because it's a 50th anniversary. Seven of the large white sections will contain photos. One of the couple (I haven't received the pictures yet, but I think it will be a wedding photo if possible) and the other six photos will be of their children and families (for those who have families of their own).
So far I have encountered no problems with the construction. I chose to purchase the Marti Michell template set and the pieces are going together perfectly! I'll post more pictures when I have something new to show.
[1] I had no actual samples of anything from the wedding to get the colors right so I had to guess.
A fun day was had by all. Well, except for the part Jonah slept through. But he really liked the rest of it.
A lot of these pictures were taken at the new Oklahoma Trails exhibit. It's huge. I don't think we saw much more than a third of the entire zoo today. Good thing we bought a membership so we can go back another day to see what all we missed!
Today is my day to watch Jonah. Grampa Kenny is playing hooky from work and we're going to the zoo. Hope to have pictures later.

Are you celebrating Cinco de Mayo?
I was planning margaritas with dinner, but there's only enough mix left for one small drink. Maybe I'll have Ken stop at the store on the way home for more.
