*quilts that I want to have done in time for the 2009 COQG quilt show.
Yes, it's that time yet again. I've accomplished a surprising amount considering how busy June was. Between the shop hop, quilt show, classes, and guild programs it's amazing that I found any time at all to work. But I did!
Not only did I finally finish appliqueing all the blocks for #3, I got the entire top put together. It's waiting its turn to be loaded onto the long arm and quilted. The day before yesterday I quilted my Front Porch Stars and yesterday I attached the binding to the front. Now all that's left for it is to hand stitch the binding to the back. Since I am planning to enter both of these quilts in the state fair it is safe to say they will both be done very, very soon. I just might meet my year end goal!
What prevents your city/town from being the best place in the country to live?

Hot humid summers.
Went upstairs a while ago to find Warren napping on the floor. I don't think I've ever seen either one of the cats do this unless they happen to be under the bed. Clearly the heat has addled his brain.
And, yes, it's hot. The Weather Service says that it's only 102 outside, but my thermometers beg to differ.
These photos are about 30 minutes old and the one on the left peaked at 109 a few minutes ago. That's just way too hot to be acceptable.
Last night I had a frozen pizza for dinner as Ken has gone hunting for the weekend. I learned a valuable lesson. When you remove pizza from a 450 degree oven is wise to assume the sauce is also at a temperature of 450 (even after you've let the pizza stand for about 10 minutes). Guess I should have paid more attention in physics class.
And now, just for fun I'll leave you with a short passage from the book. Now that I'm older it makes me chuckle every time I read it.
"If only I had some grease I could fix some kind of a light," Ma considered. "We didn't lack for light when I was a girl, before this newfangled kerosene was ever heard of."
"That's so," said Pa. "These times are too progressive. Everything has changed too fast. Railroads and telegraph and kerosene and coal stoves -- they're good things to have but the trouble is, folks get to depend on 'em."
Just got back home from the dentist. Apparently I misunderstood him last week. I had two cavities, not one. At least they were right next to each other on adjacent teeth. And the total time from walking out my front door to walking back in was only one hour. Now I'm not supposed to have any solid food for the rest of the day. Perhaps I'll have Ken take me to Braum's and have a milkshake for dinner....
You can view the carnage here.
Just got back from my semi-annual trip to the dentist. It seems that I now have a cavity on my back upper left molar. I haven't had a cavity since I was in college. This sucks. Oh, well. I'll be going back next Tuesday to have it filled.
Yes, it's that time of the month again.

I haven't made quite as much progress in May as I had hoped. The applique blocks for #3 still aren't done, but I only have 1 1/2 of them left. Fortunately, I have finished up all the quilts for the quilt show right on schedule. All I have left to do with them is put a sleeve on one [1], remove cat hair from them all, and get them delivered to a member of the collection committee. [2]
All in all, 5 quilts finished in 5 months is a respectable pace.
[1] I'll take its picture and post it as soon as I get that sleeve on it.
[2] Hey! I'm on that committee. Lucky me. 8:-)
What do you plan to do when you retire?
I don't plan on retiring. I have no intention of giving up quilting until they pull the needle out of my cold dead hand. But Ken and I do hope to do a lot more traveling in the future. That means I'll have to cut back on the amount of time I spend working.
Last night Jonah brought his mom and Nana Mary over for supper. After we were done eating we went out to sit on the patio and Ken let Jonah go inside of his workshop to explore. He thought Grandpa Kenny's ear protection was way cool (and it matched his outfit).
Which of your birthday parties was your favourite one?
Submitted by Jack Yan.
Well, I've had so few parties in my life I'd have to say all of them.
When I was 14 I had a slumber party with about 3 or 4 of my girlfriends. Mother and Daddy took us out for pizza and then we went back to my house for the usual girl stuff. Nothing really outstanding, but it's the only slumber party I ever had growing up.
At 30 I had a big party at my parents' house. Lots of friends, lots of alcohol, but everyone was very well behaved. Except maybe me.
At 40 my birthday was at Chuck E. Cheese. Silly, you say? We had a wonderful time. Ken and I were only dating at the time and yet he's still around. I figured anybody who'd still want to go out with me after hosting that party was definitely a keeper.
This year for 50 I went to Disney World. Not exactly a party, but a big
celebration just the same.
Now, if I could only get the kitchen window trimmed out by then. LOL read more
